What do you find most rewarding about your area of practice? I find hospitalist medicine to be rewarding because of the variety of patients. We see patients who range in age from young adults to centurions with an infinite range of illnesses.
Why did you decide to specialize in your specialty? I like to deal with acute illness and acute manifestations of chronic illness and then have the opportunity to intervene and see improvement on a short time scale. It's often rewarding and exciting. In terms of personal lifestyle, this job affords an incredible amount of flexibility, allowing me to enjoy both my career and family life in a balance that I do not think I would enjoy in other fields.
What do you like most about practicing at Mission Health System? The hospital serves a large area, which keeps us quite busy with what seems like an infinite variety of cases. The subspecialty care and supporting services are also fantastic, which makes for an optimal work environment
Personal Interests: Dr. Bowers enjoys hiking, snowboarding - basically anything outdoors - and also likes to cook.
