As a hospitalist, Dr. Elssner focuses on the treatment of adult patients who have been hospitalized. This care includes addressing a wide variety of medical problems. He is responsible for:
• Stabilizing patients and diagnosing their condition
• Managing patients' medications while they are hospitalized
• Ensuring the patient's continuum of care after discharge

He has a special professional interest in:
• Pulmonary medicine (problems related to lungs and breathing)

Patient Care Philosophy: I listen to my patients, and I am committed to making things easier by bringing as many services as needed together once a patient has been diagnosed. Being from abroad myself, I am able to relate to patients from diverse cultural backgrounds and enjoy working with them and their families.

Perspectives on the Region: The strong educational system was what attracted us to the region in the first place. Asheville in particular with its rich cultural life and opportunities to engage in sports seemed to be a good fit for our family.

Personal Background: Dr. Elssner is a father of three who enjoys hiking, skiing, soccer and spending time with his family.
