As a hospitalist, Dr. Garrett specializes in caring for adult patients while they are hospitalized. She is trained to treat a wide variety of conditions and responsible for:
- Stabilizing patients and diagnosing their condition
- Managing patients' medications while they are hospitalized
- Ensuring the patient's continuum of care after discharge
- Explaining and communicating information about the patient's health problem and the treatment plan to the patient, the family and other doctors
She has special professional interests in:
- Systems analysis related to quality and process improvement
- Epidemiology and disease control
- International health issues in developing countries
