As a hospitalist, Dr. Garrett specializes in caring for adult patients while they are hospitalized. She is trained to treat a wide variety of conditions and responsible for:

  • Stabilizing patients and diagnosing their condition
  • Managing patients' medications while they are hospitalized
  • Ensuring the patient's continuum of care after discharge
  • Explaining and communicating information about the patient's health problem and the treatment plan to the patient, the family and other doctors

She has special professional interests in:

  • Systems analysis related to quality and process improvement
  • Epidemiology and disease control
  • International health issues in developing countries
